Here is Adam and Grandma watching the Mariners game. We Won! I think he really likes baseball.

Tillie and the Fish

Tillie is fascinated with the fish tank. I was hoping that she would add her funny sound effects to this video, but for some reason she was completely quiet this time. She also likes to climb up on the arm of the couch and see how far she can stretch to get as close to the fish as possible without falling. Now that she has started scratching at the glass we will be training her to just watch and not touch.

Safari Pooh is off to Florida

When Susan leaves for Florida on Sunday, Safari Pooh will be going along. Safari Pooh is Susan's travel bug that she will place in a cache in Florida while she is there visiting Tommy, Julie and Adam. It will be fun to track Pooh's progress online and see how long it takes him to return to Yakima.

Lemon Cakes

These Olive Oil Lemon Cakes are listed under our Recent Culinary Adventures on the left hand side of the page. We found the recipe in the Food Network Magazine, which I highly recommend for anyone who likes to try new recipes. We have made these cakes twice now, and both times they were a big hit.
If you like shrimp, you might also want to make Baked Shrimp Scampi from the Barefoot Contessa. We made this last night for dinner and it is just as good, if not better, than any Shrimp Scampi I have had at a restaurant.

Watching Susan go to Work

Tillie is big enough to jump up onto the back of the couch so she has joined Toby every morning to watch Susan back out of the garage and head off to work. Toby has been doing this every day since we moved in last year.

Luke & Adam

Here's Luke trying to decide how he feels about Adam being in "his" house.

Sitting & Sleeping

Julie and Tommy have this picture on their blog. It was so cute, I put it on our page so that all of our friends could see it. Tommy is holding Adam while watching Monday Night Football.

While lying on his stomach, Adam picked his head up and looked around and he is only five days old!

Julie & Tommy with Adam

These are our first pictures of Julie and Tommy with Adam while they were still in the hospital.

If we don't get a picture of all three of them together before Susan goes to Florida, she can take one while she is visiting.

Tillie is Growing Up

This picture of Tillie was taken on the ferry the day we brought her home - Sunday, August 2.
I took this picture Saturday night. She has grown so much and, as you can see in this picture, she is beginning to listen to instructions from her Mama.
The helium balloon Susan got for her birthday started slowly sinking over the weekend and it wasn't too long before Tillie spotted it in the corner and decided it looked like the perfect toy. It was so funny watching her pull on the strings and see the expression on her face when the balloon "attacked" her head. She is so funny!

Home from the Hospital

Dad, Mom and Adam are home from the hospital. We get to see a little more of him in every picture. Adam was born too big to wear any of the cute newborn outfits that he got at numerous baby showers. He is already wearing clothes for 3-month old babies.

Adam on Day 2

Here is a new picture of Adam - what a beautiful
baby! The whole family is doing well - I am so
anxious to go see them - only 9 days to go.

Welcome Adam Michael

This is our first look at Adam, compliments of Maile. He was born on September 10, and weighed 9 lbs, 3 oz and was 21 inches long. That's one BIG baby! At last report Julie and baby are both doing fine, and hope to go home from the hospital on Sunday!

Huckleberry Muffins

I baked muffins this morning using more of our fresh Huckleberries. The house smells heavenly. Even the dogs are enjoying the scent in the air. They are both sitting right by the table hoping the muffins come their way. YUM!

It's a Game to Tillie

I lost Tillie in the house again today. This time I didn't fall for the trick she pulled on me last week, which was to jump up into one of the recliners, curl into a little ball and blend right into the fabric. Part of the problem that day was that I didn't know she could jump up into the chairs.
Today she disappeared and I looked everywhere for her. In the chairs, the laundry basket, both crates, Susan's room and finally I saw this little paw sticking out from under one of the pillows on the couch. I still do not know how she got in between the pillows without knocking them over, but she managed. I do believe this is a game for her. I have to admit, it will be a little sad when she is too big to hide from me.

Holiday Weekend Storm

It doesn't rain very much in Yakima and it is even more unusual to have high winds, thunder, lightening and rain at the same time. On Sunday, quite a storm rolled through town. When the wind and the rain picked up, I decided to rescue the yard spinners before they flew away. You can see how much the pansy spinner is leaning at the end of the sidewalk due to the wind. Unfortunately, the pig wasn't so lucky.
I was reminded of the scene in Twister when Helen Hunt yelled "COW" from the front seat of the truck. Just as I opened the door, pig was flying across the yard. What remains of him is lying on the sidewalk. The wind was so strong that it broke the plastic pole in half on two of the spinners. Poor pig did not survive, nor did the sunflower.

Fresh Huckleberries

On Saturday Susan drove us to the top of one of the nearby mountains so we could pick a few Huckleberries. We knew there was a chance of rain in the area, but we didn't really care if we got wet, so we went without taking any rain gear. Well, it did rain and while the water didn't bother us, it was colder than we expected. As a result, our hands got too cold and we kept dropping the berries before we could get them into the can.
The place Susan drove to is a really good place to go picking. Not only are there a lot of bushes, but you can pick the berries right next to where you park the car - no hiking required. So far, we have enjoyed Cheerios with Huckleberries - so good - and we are deciding what to make with the remaining berries. As Rachel Ray would say, "YUMMO!"

Please Don't Eat the Daisies

Susan loves Daisies, so it is not surprising that we have a Shasta Daisy plant in the backyard. I even gave Susan a vase for her birthday that is just perfect for Daisies. By looking at this picture you might think that the flower missing its petals is old. The truth is, it was attacked yesterday by Tillie. I was busy picking up leaves and bark off the grass and when I turned around she was pulling the petals off the flower, one by one, and having a fabulous time!
My goal is to have enough flowers survive to fill Susan's vase before fall. Now, if I can just convince Tillie to cooperate.
