Inside & Outside Painting

Ben took the first load to the dump and the trailer weighed in at 2,000 pounds.

Yakima Valley Painting is painting the inside and outside of the pool house. They run the sprayer and hoses from this trailer. After the first coat of primer, the inside walls were texturized and then primed again. Then two coats of paint were applied.

The painters are prepping the outside before painting.

While the painters are laying down all the protective tarps, Susan and Ben are getting ready to blow out the sprinklers. 

The first coat of exterior paint is being applied to the west wall.

I was very surprised how well the paint colors matched considering that our house was painted four years ago.  

The electricians will be back again to finish all the light fixtures and hook up the heating system. Once completed, Ben and Bob will begin building the frame for the pool.

Wallboard and Siding Continued

Workers finished taping the wallboard yesterday. This morning the painters began priming the walls and ceilings and caulking around the windows and doors.

After the first coat of primer, the walls are textured and then primed again. The second coat of primer dries in about two hours so the guys will begin painting the walls tomorrow.

Ben and Bob continue to work on the siding. They are working on this East wall today and there is still a little work to be done on the North wall.

Next up for the exterior is paint to match the house and gutters installed.

Wallboard & Siding

Wallboard was delivered on Tuesday.  Susan took a great set of pictures showing the entire process of the wallboard being unloaded from the truck and moved into the pool room. Notice the counterweight on the truck so it doesn't tip over when the wallboard is unloaded.

Yesterday the wallboard was installed, while Ben and Bob continued to work on the siding. Wallboard was installed on the ceiling first, followed by the walls.

The guys got all the wallboard taped today. The next step will be priming the wallboard prior to painting.

I took more pictures of the siding but they did not turn out. I will post more pictures of the siding once it is all installed.

Inspections, Insulation & Windows

Things were at a standstill since last Thursday while we were waiting for three different inspections.  Once those were out of the way, insulation was installed as were the remaining windows.

The door that opens to the backyard was installed yesterday. Susan and I went shopping and purchased the ceiling fan, the light for the pump room and the exterior light by the door. We had told Ben that we did not need a light on the outside of the building but then we learned it is required by code so now we have a light outside by the door.  

This is the inside of the pump room. Next up, for the inside, is wallboard. We are having a special wallboard installed that repels moisture. The interior paint is also a special mix that repels moisture.  

 

Bob and Ben started working on exterior siding today. The weather is cooperating nicely, with temperatures in the mid-80's this week. 

Electrical, Heating and Construction Work

There was a tremendous amount of activity here today. Electricians were installing the wiring and boxes for the lights, fan, hot tub, pumps and heating system.  Building contractors were installing windows and siding and the heating company installed duct work for the room heating system. The first picture shows some of the wiring and control box inside the pump room.

You can see receptacles for two recessed can lights that will be above the hot tub. There are two more over the exercise area and two on the south wall in front of the pool.  There will also be a ceiling fan. The north wall windows are installed and next to the can lights, in the ceiling, you can see vents that connect to the heating/dehumidifier system.  

I took this picture, looking up toward the ceiling, to show more of the duct work for the heating system.  

The windows on the north side of the building, shown from outside. The larger window is inside the pump room.  The heating system for the room will sit on the concrete pad in the foreground.  Duct work from the heating unit will pass through the small opening above the window in the pump room and then connect to the vents in the ceiling, shown in the previous image.  

Some siding was installed on the north wall and you can see a piece of black cable in the cold air return - covered by particle board.  

 

The other window in the pump room has been installed. Both windows in the pump room open to provide cross ventilation.  

The remaining windows will be installed tomorrow. and the next electrical inspection should occur on Friday. Next up: insulation.
